Message from Superintendent Dr. Darryl L. Williams

Dear Class of 2020, congratulations!

I am so proud of your hard work over many years.  I also commend your grace and maturity during this historic pandemic.  You deserve the opportunity to walk across the graduation stage, and we will consider those possibilities when it is safe to do so. For now, please accept my warm and sincere well wishes as you take the next step in your life.

All BCPS school buildings are closed through the end of the school year - June 22, 2020. All instruction will continue online with Schoology. Last day for seniors will be May 29, 2020. Schools and offices are providing services remotely. See Coronavirus Updates for more information.
 
Greetings Woodlawn Family,  During this time of social distancing and quarantine, we are still here for YOU!  If you have questions or need assistance, please call the main office at 443-809-1309 and you will receive a response within 24-48 hours from one of our staff. In the meantime, please be safe and stay healthy!

A Message from Principal Jernigan

Grading Policy:
Beginning on April 10, 2020, students and parents will notice changes to the Schoology grade book. Please note the following:

  • The new marking period will be labeled “MP3/MP4.”
  • Assignments will be located in either the “Minor” or the “Practice” category of the grade book.
  • Feedback will not be in the form of a traditional letter grade. A teacher may use a score (8/10) or qualitative feedback in the comments section. 
  • A percentage or letter grade will no longer appear in the grade book for individual categories (major, minor, or practice), nor will it appear for the overall grade for the new marking period (MP3/MP4). 

Students will participate in class meetings once weekly 
(30-minute duration) for each scheduled class based on the chart below.

  • Students should log into their Schoology account and view the course home page for each class to identify the virtual meeting times for their classes. 

Google Meet

  • Office Hours: A time when students and/or parents have access to their instructor. This time should be spent responding to student questions, answering emails, answering Schoology questions, posting solutions for common misconceptions, and conferencing or updating students (a teacher may use Google Meets to communicate with students and parents as needed).
      
  • Class Meetings: The time when each instructor provides the opportunity for a “Whole Group” real-time session via Google Meets, once per week per course.

  • Library Media Center Hours: The time when students staff and/or teachers have remote access to the library media specialist.

  • *Principal/Admin Office Hours: A time when students, staff and/or parents have remote access to their administrator and/or principal. This time will be spent responding to questions, family meetings with counselors, providing informal feedback, answering Schoology questions, updating grade level or content teams(using Google Meets, Google Voice, Microsoft Teams, etc.) We will be available by email daily, however if extensive support or dialogue needs to take place this time will be used to do so virtually.
