Mission Statement: Woodlawn High School’s Counseling Department implements a comprehensive school counseling curriculum to address the academic, college/career readiness, and social-emotional needs of all students within a safe and supportive environment. Through our direct interventions and collaboration with critical stakeholders to coordinate additional supports, school counselors strive to empower each student to overcome any obstacle in their pursuits for personal growth and academic achievement. We work to ensure that every one of our students has access to the resources necessary to excel beyond graduation, and to remain learners who will strive to accomplish their unique post-secondary ambitions, while positively contributing as responsible citizens of the dynamic global economy.

For the last 5 years I’ve coach boys’ basketball. My hobbies include dancing
(have my own dance team), making people smile, shopping (love fashion),

Gladden and I am (in the School Counseling Department. I am a School Counselor
for students with last names A-D. This is my 3rd year at Woodlawn
High school and enjoy working with students. I am a native New Yorker. Although, I have worked in the high school
setting for a short period of time, I have worked in the Counseling field for
over 24 years with children as well as adults. I specialize in Crisis
Counseling and have worked closely with individuals who have experienced
emotional distress and have taught people various ways to manage their anxiety.
Some of my hobbies
include water aerobics, listening to music, watching Hallmark and Lifetime
movies and spending time with family and friends. I always enjoy a good laugh
and have a wonderful sense of humor.

people! Fun fact: I am a first-generation college graduate that was born to two
immigrant Salvadorans in South-Central Los Angeles, California. I enjoy

name is Ms. York and I am in the School Counseling Office. I have been here
working in the building for a total of 10 years. In 2010, I became an AVID
Tutor for Civic Works until 2013. Then became a main office secretary in 2014
and in 2016 I became a School Records Secretary. I am also a 2009 graduate of
Woodlawn High School. I was a former advisor for the class of 2015 and 2019. I
also, coached for the SPEARS Dance Team.
When I am not working I am
a full-time student, graduating in 2022 and the best mommy to the sassiest
toddler I know. I enjoy traveling, binge watching Netflix series, and shopping.
My friends would say, I use shopping as an excuse for everything.
