Woodlawn High School is continuing to expand its Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Biomedical Sciences Program this year. This program offers high school students a dynamic curriculum that uses real world experience and hands on problem-based learning. Students with interest in exploring the variety of career opportunities that the field of medicine offers will find the PLTW Biomedical Science Program to be a fantastic doorway to a future in the medical and biological fields. There are still a few spots open for incoming 9th and 10th graders.
This is a Career and Technical Education (CTE) completer program, meaning that when a student enters the program, they are expected to successfully complete all of the courses.
This is the typical progression of courses. This progression can be modified for 10th grade students entering the program.
9th Grade: Principles of Biomedical Science (PBS)
10th Grade: Human Body Systems (HBS)
11th Grade: Medical Interventions (MI)
12th Grade: Biomedical Innovations (BI)
