¡Hola Me nombre es...

Señora Varela

Greetings Parents/guardians/students/families and friends! My name is Solange Varela and this is my second year teaching Spanish at Woodlawn High School, however, I have over seven years of teaching experience both in Baltimore City and County. I was born and raised in Cape Verde Island, West Africa. I came to the USA at the age of nine, I am the youngest of eleven. I graduated from UMBC with a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and Sociology. I am current attending Goucher College to obtain my masters in secondary education.

I am extremely EXCITED for the 2016-2017 school year. I look forward to working with you and your student(s) during this school year and in the future. I will be teaching Spanish I and II this year. Both classes focus on students learning the fundamentals of the Hispanic language and culture. Students will engage in multiple activities designed to peek their interest in order to reach their full potential and be successful.

Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns. I can be reached by email at, or by calling the school at (410-887-1309).

Have a great day on purpose,

Señora Varela
