ATTENTION WOODLAWN STUDENTS!  


The BCPS Technology Support Services Dept is looking to hire several students for assistance during the summer.  There is a lot of work to be done refreshing devices to prepare for the new school year!

 

This would be a perfect summer position for anyone who is interested in a career in networking.  Consider your student-run Help Desk interns from this past year, or those looking to obtain these internships in future years.  Please share this also with students who are currently enrolled in CTE IT and networking-related courses.

 

A description of the work is below:

 

IT Support Tech I:  This is a job that teaches the youth theoretical and practical knowledge skills that can be used in the Information Technology Industry and give them a competitive edge over other applicants when applying for future jobs.  Schedules will vary from 8:00am to 6:00pm, 5-7.5 hours per day,  with lunch breaks for shifts worked beyond 6 hour shifts.

 

While positions will be spread throughout the county, the home-base for the summer positions is Carver Center.  Parking is available at the school.

 

Students…

·       Will become certified in repairing devices manufactured by Hewitt Packer (HP)

·       Will learn how to perform complete diagnostic repair procedures on laptop computers (including but not limited to repairing hardware component, cleaning and software application)

·       Will participate in technical trainings and gain knowledge of real-world technical practices

·       Will perform routine diagnostics and maintenance on computers operating with Windows 10 OS

·       Will learn to install and support device and accompanying software needed on devices

 

We are super excited and would like to welcome youth with the below skills(not all inclusive):

·       Previous computer repair experience (preferred not required)

·       Communication Skills

·       Ability to focus on tasks

·       Be reliable

·       Willingness to learn

·       Ability to work well with others

·       Experience using a computer

 

We are also hoping to have the students HP certified (an online training) before July 1, 2019.
