Woodlawn High School is committed to providing a quality education for all students. We believe that each student is entitled to a program of education that will provide for the development of skills necessary to adapt successfully to a rapidly changing technological society. We also believe that it is our task to prepare students to live a purposeful life in a diverse society. It is the overall goal that our educational program enables the students to attain self-actualization.
We believe that all students should be provided with a variety of experiences that promote an awareness of responsibility to themselves, their families, their community, and their country. We strive to foster human understanding; to cultivate appreciation and respect for differences (cultural, ethnic, religious, racial, socio-economic, etc.) among members of society; to promote a sense of social consciousness and an awareness of the value of the past and present so that students are prepared to cope with the future and to become caring, concerned citizens of a global community.
We are dedicated to the task of teaching a common body of knowledge based upon the most recent research. By providing a positive and cooperative learning environment combined with a multifaceted program, each student is encouraged to realize his/her full potential. To ensure the equality of opportunity for our students and to continue to enhance self esteem, we understand the importance of providing programs that address learning styles of all students. We believe that this effort will enable each student to function effectively in the physical and social environment.
We believe that by developing educational resources and encouraging intellectual curiosity, we can foster creative endeavors, nurture critical thinking, and support independent judgment as a part of living in a changing world.
